A fracture of the base of the skull was received by M. J. Whchui, pensioner, Carlton House, Masterton. when lie fell i'll tlie footpath near tin- Railway Hotel. Thorinlon. last evening. lie was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance, and his condition last night, was reported to be satisfactory.
