Tlie action of the Kailways Department in charging demurrage after a ■lMiriod of four hours following the arrival of trucks of goods at it railway statiou was discussed al a meeting of the South Auckland. Dairy Association. Members staled that goods often arrived in the early morning, and that cream carriers could not unload them till after they had discharged their cream, which was sometimes well after noon. One member staled that it sometimes happened that posted advice as to the arrival of the goods often did not arrive till a day after the goods had been nt the station. ILe thought the railway oflieials could telephone I he consignees in many cases, but he had been informed that they had no tune. It was decided to ask the department not to charge demurrage till after the goods had been at the station for at least eight hours.
