Advance By Germans LOCAL SITUATION DIFFICULT Allies Reported To Be Closing In On Narvik By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received May 1, 2.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 30. The latest news reaching London of the situation in Norway is that the Allies are being hard-pressed on the Dombas front. An unconfirmed 'report states that the Germans are in possession of Roros and Storcn. but the Allies are stated to be holding Jerkin. Our troops early yesterday fought magnificently to beat off a German attack between Otta and Dombas. The situation at Dombas is regarded as difficult. During the fighting our troops destroyed some medium tanks. Demolition moves carried out by the British troops proved effective in hampering the enemy. The position at Namsos is stationary.

The Allied troops at Narvik have been reinforced and it is understood are closing in. Important property of the Narvik Ore Company is reported to be burning. It is not clear whether the property was fired by Germans or as a result of a British bombardment, but a building is burning. The Air Ministry reports that the R.A.F. last night successfully bombed an enemy air base at Fornebu.
