LACK OF SUPPORT

Rongotai College Old Boys’ Association

PLAN TO MAKE MEETINGS MORE ATTRACTIVE

Because of the lack of support accorded the Rongotai College Old Boys’ Association, a committee for the canvassing and enrolling of new members was elected at the annual, meeting of the association, held at the college last night. It was also decided to hold meetings every two months instead of yearly. These meetings will be attended by a master of- the school, who, after the completion of general business, will speak on world topics. After this supper will be served, with the idea of turning what have been prosaic meetings into pleasant social galheriugs. The patron of the association,, Mr. F. JI. Renner, principal of the college, attributed the present paucity of the association’s members to I lie fact that Rongotai old boys were all young men. occupied with their own careers, and therefore unable to devote too much time to outside matters. He hoped, however, that lie would have a strong old boys' association at his back wlteii the linie came to put the school hack on its feet after rhe disorganization caused by the inevitable expansion of the city.

Commenting on what was described as an unsatisfactory balance-sheet, be remarked that last year the association had held too many big gatherings. Officers Elected.

Following are the officers for 1939:— Patron, Mr. F. M. Renner; president, Mr. C. Robinson; secretary Mr. J. Lancaster; treasurer, Mr. A. Arcus: auditor. Mr. Kinross; committee, Messrs. O. L. Wrigley,, C. J. Phelps, Coleman, and Stone.

Following is tlie committee for the canvassing and enrolment of new members:—Messrs. Brown. Fnmilton, Grey, and Kelliher.
