Pressure Falling

Following is the weather report and the forecast for winds and seas issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today : — General situation: Pressure is falling slowly over the Dominion, but remains high over Tasmania, while conditions are still very disturbed over the central and northern Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: Rather variable at first -with northerlies to northwesterlies predominating; force moderate mainly, but freshening at times, specially in the south, where a change to southerlies probable again later. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about Foveaux Strait and rising in. Cook Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong winds to gales between north-east and southeast. Seas rough to high. WEEKEND WEATHER Wellington: Dull and cloudy on Saturday morning, with drizzling rain during the midday hours, but clearing in the late afternoon. Yesterday'was brilliantly line and warm. On Saturday a moderate southerly breeze blew, but on Sunday it had changed to a light northerly. Minimum temperature on Friday night 55.7 degrees, maximum on Saturday 62.4 degrees, minimum on Saturday night, 49.9 degrees, yesterday, 70.4 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. yesterday the temperature was 67.7 degrees, and the barometer reading, 30.027 in. The rainfall on Saturday was three points. Palmerston North: Gloriously fine, with bright hot sunshine and a light breeze.

Masterton: Saturday was overcast in the morning and steady light rain fell in the afternoon. There was hot sunshine from a clear blue sky yesterday. Light westerly wind. Wanganui: Fine, with a blue sky, clouds , and a light south-westerly breeze. Sea smooth and temperatures warm. New Plymouth: Warm, sunny, and calm. Barometer reading at 5 p.m. yesterday 30.00 in. Napier and Hastings: Saturday was fine and bright in the morning, with cloud developing toward midday, but clearing again toward evening. A moderate easterly breeze in the morning, and a light south-easterly in the afternoon. Yesterday was a fine day, very warm in the morning, but with a pleasant cool breeze in the afternoon. Waipukurau: Saturday was a beautiful sunny day, with a maximum temperature of 71 degrees. Sunday was a warm sunny day. The maximum temperature was 78 degrees, and the barometer reading, 30.10 in. Auckland: Saturday was fine and cloudv with light to moderate variable winds. Sunday, was fine and cloudy with light to moderate wind, mainly from the north. The maximum temperalure was 75 degrees. Barometric pressure fell slightly in Hie afternoon, the reading at -I p.m. being 30.141 U. Christchurch: Saturday, overcast and cold with no wind. Rain threatened in the afternoon, but no more than a few spots fell. Sunday, brilliantly line and warm wilh a very light northeasterly breeze. The barometer at 5 p.m. read HO.lOin. Dunedin: Yesterday was line and warm, although the sun was obscured from time to time by passing cloud. There was a light north-w estet Ij breeze in the morning, which changed to a south-westerly. The barometer dropped slightly in the morning, but in the afternoon it commenced to rise again, and at 6 p.m. it registered 30.15 inches.
