The world's principal cross-country event, the Grand National Steeplechase, run at Aintrce, Liverpool, today, was won bv the Irish-bred horse Workman, who triumphed after a splendid race throughout. Macmoffatt and Kilstar filled the minor places, and Cooleen was fourth. The following is the result of the GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLE,CHASE, a sweepstakes with £4OOO added ; second horse £BOO, third £5OO, aud fourth £2OO. For six-year-olds and upward, which, at entry, have beeen placed first, second, or third in a 'chase of three miles or upward, value £2OO to winner, or the equivalent in foreign distances or money nt Aintree, Liverpool, or have won any 'chase of £5OO (or the equivalent iu foreign money) to the winner (selling races in every case excluded). .About four miles and 856 yards.
