OBITUARY
Mr. Harry Jervis A pioneer of the-Wellington district, Mr. Harry Jervis, Makara, died recently. As a young man of 21 he arrived in New Zealand on September 6, ISS6, in the ship Coptic, from Shropshire, and soon after his arrival was employed by the late Mr. William Moxliam at Upland Farm, which is now Kelburn. The Makara estate also belonged to -Mr. Moxham. Mr. Jervis went there first as manager, and later purchased the property. Mrs. Jervis, then Miss Prince, from North Staffordshire, followed Mr. Jervis to New Zealand, travelling in the ship Kaikoura, and arriving at Millington on December 3, ISS7. They were married at Upland Farm on December 15, 18S7, and then took up residence in Makara. Mr. Jervis is survived by nis wife, one daughter, Mrs. R. P. Monk, and lour sons. The eldest of the five boys was killed in action on August 8. 1915. Mr. Percy Thomas Jervis, who was with his brother in the Great War, is now farming in Reikorangi. The other three sous are operating the home estate. There are 17 grandchildren ami two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ultan F. McCabe Tite death occurred suddenly yesterday morning of Mrs. Ethel Maude McCabe. 17 Park Street, Wellington, wife of -Mr. Ultan F. McCabe, a member of the Wellington Stock Exchange. Mrs. McCabe had been a sufferer from blood pressure for some time past, but her collapse yesterday was quite unexpected. She was a daughter of Mr. A. J. Parsons, who was mayor of Wanganui for several years. The interment, which will be private, will take place in Wanganui.
