“Case With No Conclusion,” by Lea Bruce (London: Bles), Mr. Lea Bruce’s work supplies a refreshing change from the general run of detective fiction. He is not afraid to make gentle fun of his sleuth, tho pleasing Sergeant Beef, whose first case in private practice he now records. It is a good case, too, one with a satisfactory mystery that gives the reader plenty to think about and indeed keeps him thinking after the lust page has been read. That is another point nl which Mr. Bruce succeeds in being different. The characters in (h p hook are drawn with a sure touch and the story as a whole has no difficulty In holding interest from first to last.
