Briar Berries.
I spied crimson berries on the wild briar— You would think each twig was held stiff with wire— So off my bike I hopped, Into the paddock I popped, And cut some for all to admire.
Now for a fortnight it has been, One of the finest decorations seen. Some in bowls of glass, And in vases of brass, Autumn berries, and leaves brown and green. —Dad’s Cobber (12), Carterton.
