MOTORIZED GUNS
Public Demonstration At Trentham DISPLAY ON APRIL 15 The general public is invited to witness a full-scale denionstration of the uew Bren armoured carriers, tlie motorized Vickers guns, and motorcycle guns at Treutbaiu 011 the afternoon of Saturday, April 15. A half-day parade of all Territorial units in Wellington will be called 10 witness tlie demonstration, which will give all units au excellent opportuuly to see modern equipment iu action, and to appreciate what other units do in battle.
The demonstration will conclude the intensive course of instruction on the driving and maintenance of the new Bren armoured carriers, which is being carried out at the Army School, Trent ham, the instructor being Staff Sergeant-Major AV. H. Bromley, of the Australian Instructional Corps, who lias been specially lent for this purpose by Army Headquarters, Melbourne. Sergeant-Major Bromley has had extensive experience in Australia with armoured fighting vehicles generally, and is an expert driver; he has been instructing the Australian Tank Corps since its inception. The course is being attended by selected New Zealand Permanent Staff and New Zealand Permanent Army Service Corps personnel from each military district. The demonstration will include cross-country movement with the Bren armoured carriers and the mechanized field artillery manned by personnel of the sth Field Battery, N.Z.A. Firepower demonstrations will also be given with motorized Vickers guns and motor-cycle Lewis guns of the Ist Battalion, AVellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own). The new Bren light machine-guns will also lire both from the armoured carriers with their normal role of ground action. The grand finale will be a spectacular demonstration of an attack by light tanks (represented by armoured carriers) on a mechanized 18-pounder battery, which will be in action on antitank platforms.
