Dance For Motor Industry Queen

There wa«s a large attendance at the Horiticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, last night, when the motor industries opened their campaign in support of their queen in the centennial carnival with a dance. Their queen, Miss Notalie- Whiteman, wore a smart frock of 'black taffetas with green velvet stripes. The committee was Messrs. D. AVickhum (chairman), J. Jones (secretary), D. Lander (treasurer), E. King, H. Baker, J. Thomas, S. E. de Matthews, Mockeridge, AlcLeod, Ritchie, J. Alclntyre, H. Stevens, and A. Dibiey. Air. J. Alclntyre was the AI.C.

R.S.A. Dance. Prize-winners at a fancy-dress dance held in the Lower Hutt Returned. Soldiers’ Association rooms on Thursday night were Air. aud Airs. Hammond, Alias Alonica Corrigan, aud Mr. Tice-Alartin. The R.S.A. queen, Aliss Joan Cowie, wno was present, wore a frock of floral crepe de chine. The committee comprised Air. and Airs. E. F. AVilton, Air. and Airs. H. E. Edwards, Air. and Airs. J. O’Aleara, Air. and Mrs. P. AlcNicol, Air. and Airs. G. Shand, Alesdames A. Robins, F. Stedman, S. Weggery, AV. Hamilton, H. AVoolley. and AV. Evans, Alessrs. C. Akers, AV. Hamilton, L. Hook, and D. Anueor. Mr. G. Page was the master of ceremonies. Dances are to be held in aid of the R.S.A. queen.

Church Bazaar. A successful bazaar organized by a women’s committee opened on Thursday night in St. Peter's Hall. Lower Hutt; the proceeds will go to the Presbytery fund. The bazaar continued yesterday ami will continue today and tonight, lhe programme was contributed by Alisses Olga and Zita AlcAlahon-Box, Peggy Keeble, Lauretta Cunningham, L.T.0.L., and Alelva AlcGrath. Those in charge of the stalls and sideshows were: Alesdames J. Nolan, F. Posselt, B. Hart, E. O'Neill, C. Wysck, K. Forster, R. Pollaud, G. AlcNamara and G. Gray; Misses Al. Fauvel, E. Campbell and N. Cooper; Aleewrs. E. Barry, D. Benton and E. Posselt.

Complimentary Social. Housdholders of tlie district held a complimentary social for Air. H. Saunders in the Boulcott School on 'Thursday. Air. Saunders, who ha« been the chairman of the Boulcott School Committee for some time, is retiring from that position as he is moving to another part of the district. Air. E. A. Carter, the newly-appointed chairman, expressed tlie committee’s appreciation of Air. Saunders’s services, and presented him with a lounge chair from the householders. The headmaster, _ Mr. R. J. Burke, presented Airs. J. Hamilton with a lounge chair in recognition of her services to the school.
