RECEIPTS FALL OFF
Wairarapa Rugby Union’s Report POOR STANDARD BLAMED Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON. March 23. “The standard oE play showed no improvement on the lean years of the past, and if the desired improvement, is to be brought about it is for the delegates to take the necessary action." states the au nual report of the Wairarapa Rugby Union, to be submitted by the chairman, Mr. H. A. McPhee, at the annual meeting on April 1. “A serious falling off in gate receipts at both club and representative games is explained by the poor Rugby played in senior grade games, and it is the players' part to show the necessary improvement that will again win public patronage. “Excellent service was given by members of the referees’ association, who gave a lot of time to consideration of how best to improve the game from a playing point of view, which is quite a problem as the rules arc written today.”
