Group Captain Cochrane

SERVICES TO GOVERNMENT APPRECIATED

After completing a 24- years’ engagement in New Zealand as Chief of the Air Staff, Group Captain the Hon. R. A. Cochrane will leave for England by the Mataroa, which is scheduled to sail from Wellington tomorrow for Southampton. He was officially bade farewell by the Government at an afternoon tea gathering yesterday in the office of the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, in Parliament Buildings. The gathering was attended by members of -Cabinet in Wellington. The Minister of Education, Mr. Fraser, represented the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, who is in Auckland. The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterbee, various departmental officers and representatives of the three services were 'also present.
