POWER CONSUMERS

Increase Of 1000 A Year Hoped For Power sale figures for April, 1938, to February, 1939, compared with the sama period' of 1937-38, as presented to the Hutt Valiev Electric Power Board yesterday, are: £116,791 (£109,204), increase £7587. The board has now 14,411 installations. . Mr. S. Blackley pointed opt that this represented more installations than there were ratepayers in the district. The engineer-general manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands, said that there had been 1000 consumers added in each of the past two years, and in 1931 and 1934. He expected this increase to be maintained. The chairman, Mr. A. W. Press, said he thought this optimistic. Mr. S. Blackley said that there, were not 1000 new houses being erected in the district annually.
