EASTBOURNE FERRIES £650 WORSE OFF
Position For 11 Months Of Financial Year The net result in the ferry department for the 11 months of the financial year ended February was £650 worse than for the same period of 1937-38, reported the town clerk-general manager, Mr. C. L. Bishop, to the Eastbourne Borough Council hist night. Revenue for the 11 months ended February was £650 less, and expenditure was the same as for the same period of the 1937-38 financial year. The ferry account showed the following fi-ures for the period, the corresponding ones for 1937-38 being in parentheses: Receipts £lO,-181 (£14,6;>7) ; expenditure, £10.636 (£15.646) ; fw February, receipts £1244 (£1210), expenditure £984 (£7od). Bus Revenue Increased. Bus department revenue in February was above that for the same month last vear and the total for the 11-month period showed a sufficient rise to meet the increased expenditure. A new bus would be ready in a few weeks and another in three months. , „ „ . c The accounts gave the following figures, the corresponding ones for the 11 mouths of the 1937-38 financial year being in parentheses: Reeerpte, £2O 911 (£!(>,- 534): expenditure, £16,624 (£14„.J4). Rates and other receipts tor the 11 months of the financial year.ended Februarv had been in keeping with the estimates. Because of circumstances beyoud the council’s control expenditure had been above the estimates. . The Petone Whippet Racing Club was o-iven permission to hold a meeting on the Recreation Ground on Easter Monday, suitable arrangements to be made with the town clerk.
