TITANIA'S PALACE

For The New York World's Fair

One of Hie English exhibits ut the great New York World’s Fair, to open next month, will be Sir Nevile Wilkinson’s treasurable masterpiece in miniature, Titania's Palace, which was exhibited in Wellington some three years ago. One of the young women who supervised the display of the Palace in New Zealand has written to a friend in 'Wellington about her charge in the following terms:— “In view of our approaching visit to New York we, are now giving the Palace a thorough spring cleaning. An electrician has improved the lighting and one or two craftsmen are employed on the exterior. Several rooms are having Sir Nevile’s painted ceilings put in. including the throne room. All the tiny pictures are being re-bung so that no matter what the vibration they will always remain straight. Loose covers have been made for the chesterfields and the two upholstered chairs and they are really works of art. But I think the most wonderful thing of all will be the garden. Nothing I can say will describe its magnificence. .. . Lady Beatrix (Wilkinson) has made the most beautiful flowering trees and shrubs, exquisite window boxes and screen in glorious colourings, so you can imagine what the vistas will be like through the windiws.... We are to sail by the Queen Mary on April 1 from Southampton and go straight to the exhibition. The Palace is to be the central feature of the children’s section at the World’s Fair.” KNITTERS, GET THIS BOOK.
