Hawke’s Bay Wins Final Easily RANGITIKEI BEATEN 7-2 Dominion Special Service. FEILDING, March 22. The final polo match for the Savile Cup was played today, the competing teams being Hawke’s Bay an'd Rangitikei. Hawke’s Bay wou easily, the final scores being Hawke’s Bay 7, Rangitikei 2. Opening the first chukka, Rangitikei set the pace, but the Hawke’s Bay tactics were superior. Allowing Rangitikei to tire their ponies, Hawke’s Bay would then make a lightning change and catch Rangitikei out of breath. The veteran C. F. McKenzie in the Hawke’s Bay team was too safe and sure for his younger opponents, saving his- side many times. In the first chukka Hawke’s Bay scored two goals and Rangitikei none. At the end of the second chukka Hawke’s Bay had raised its score to three goals and Rangitikei still had no score. In the third chukka Rangitikei opened its account, scoring two goals but Hawke’s Bay had raised its total to six. Hawke’s Bay scored again in the last chukka, making the final score 7-2.
In a handicap cup game Cambridge (1) met. Hawke’s Bay B (12), Hawke’s Bay winning by 14 goals to 6. This morning Matangi (seven goals) played against a composite team with a s-ealeil handicap, Matangi shot two goals and the composite team five making the totals Matangi nine, composite team five (sealed handicap, scratch).
