Protest Meeting In Tinui

Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON, March 22. A meeting held to protest against the increase in charges for rural telephones was well attended by Tinui settlers last night. Those who attended, after a vigorous discussion, unanimously agreed to disconnect their telephones if charges made this year should exceed those of last year. Messrs. C. S. Hay and A. A. Schofield were appointed a sub-committee to confer with the committee' already set up by the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers Union, with the object of a deputation waiting on the Masterton postmaster on Friday, the M.P. for Masterton, Mr. Robertson, and the M.P. for Wairarapa, Air. Roberts, will accompany the deputation, and stock and station agents, the Masterton Chamber of Commerce, and the Employers’ Federation have been asked to give their support.
