LOTTE LEHMANN
Possibility Of Dominion Tour (tn her way to fulfil an engagement tn Australia, Madame Lotte Lehmann, world-famous German soprano, passed through Auckland last week in the Mariposa. She will start her, Australian programme in Sydney, accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, which will be conducted by Antal Dorati. After three weeks in Sydney she will continue her tour, and will leave the country on May 26. It is two years since Madame Lehmann visited Australia, and site said it was good to be returning to a country which has so many iiappy memories for tier. She hoped to tour New Zealand afterward. It. is interesting to note that Madame Lehmann is to become a naturalized American subject. In October, 1931. she announced that she would never sing in Germany again. Iler decision was in answer to Goering's demand that, if she wished to retain the title of "Kanimersinger,” she must live in Berlin. Madame Ix.dimann’s husband was an Austrian, and at tlial time they lived in Vienna, a city which she loves, and which was not then part of Germany.
