Farewell To Taita School Headmaster The Taita Hall was filled on Saturday night when a farewell social was given for Mr F T. Vaughan, who has been headmaster' of the Taita School for 19 years, and is now retiring. Air. 11. B. Hutchison, chairman of the Taita Schoo, Committee, presented Air. Vaughan, on behalf of the school staff, pupils, and Taita residents, with a chiming clock, and Mrs. Vaughan with a silver teaservice. Air. Hutchison paid tribute to Mr. Vaughan's untiring services to the school, and introduced the newly-appoint-ed headmaster, Air. N. Taylor. Mrs. Vaughan and Airs. Taylor were presented with posies The official party comprised Air ami Airs. AV. B. Hutchison, Mr. and Mik F. T. Vaughan, Mr. and .Mrs. N. Taylor, Mr. AV. Comuig-of-Age Party. Airs. J. B. Tustin, Taita. was hostess recently at a coming-of-age party for Ali&i Kathleen Tustin, given at the home of Mr and Mrs. G. N. Tustin. Avalon Crescent, Taita. Mrs. O. N. Tustin wore a frock of magnolia embossed ninon; Airs. J. B. Tustin, floral crepe de chine in blue tonings; and Aliss Tustin, pastelshaded floral taffetas. Sacred Concert. A well-attended sacred concert wag held in the Grand Theatre, Petone, on Sunday night, in aid of the Petone Plunkct Society. Alesdaines Millward, Corkill and Millar, and .Messrs. 11. Cairns, L. Kevin, McDonagh and Wilkinson sang, and Aliss Rainsford recited. Items were also given by the Ropu Maori Choir, with Mrs. Parata-Olsen as soloist, the Petone Citizens' Band, which was conducted by Air. G. A. Booth, and Taylor’s Novelty Band, Airs. Al. Airs. AV. Smith, Waterloo Road, Dower Hutt, left Auckland by the Niagara on. Monday for three months' holiday in Vancouver and Los Angeles. Aliss Heather Wright, Lower Hutt, has returned from a tour of the North Island with a theatrical company.

JAIL FOR THEFT OF MONEY

Whiteman’s Valley Road. On March 16 he attempted to force the lock of a wardrobe in Air. I-lar-len's room in which there was money, but failed. He then forced a panel off the back of the wardrobe and took the from a butter-box in it. He had a number of previous convictions.
