JOCKEY’S APPEAL FAILS
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 21. The appeal of the jockey J. Winder against the decision of the stewards of the Franklin Racing Club in suspending his licence for two mouths as from March 4 for careless riding on Son of the Soil in the Bombay Handicap, was dismissed this evening by the Auckland district committee. The finding of the district committee was as follows:— “That the appeal lodged by J. Winder against the decision of the stewards of the Franklin Racing Club in suspending his jockey’s licence for two months as from March 4, 1939, for a breach of rule 289 of the Rules of Racing, bb dismissed, and tile decision of the stewards of the Franklin Racing Club be endorsed.” The (’reposit lodged for appeal was ordered to be forfeited.
