RICCARTON WORK

Oamaru Candidates Gallop Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. The only work of interest at Riccarton todav was that of horses to race at Oamaru this week and as several of these had a race at IVaimate the number ot gallops was restricted. The outside of the course proper was thrown open, but all the work mentioned was on the plough. Rebel Queen covered seven furlongs in 1.31, the first four in 49. Rebel Queen, who won at her last start, the highwciglit event at slotukarara, must be again seriously considered under similar conditions at Oamaru. Ferriby beat Swingtime over five furlongs in 1.4. His win at Waimate made him ineligible for the Trial Stakes on Thursday, but he is engaged in the AVindso’r Flack Handicap of seven furlongs, in which he should be seen to advantage Nightcalm went well in galloping six furlongs in 1.16. He is to make his reappearance at Oamaru. but will probably be in need of some racing.

Cocksure had a slight advantage from Kilrobe and Dictate at the end of five furlongs in 1.2. Cocksure shaped very encouragingly. Rebel Chief beat Palmyra over five furlongs in 1.3 3-5. He is very well just now and should race prominently this week. Lady sliddlqham finished in front of Nolana at the end of five furlongs in 1.3 1-5, the last three in 38. Real Lady easily accounted for .Shangri La over five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. The former will not be racing at Oamaru, but will be kept for IVestport. Parquet and The Sandwich Jlan strode over six furlongs in 1.16 1-5. The former is likely to be in keen demand for the Oamaru Cup. Gay Hussar and Skyrena reeled off five furlongs in 1.4. Recollection jumped four hurdles at a fast pace and should be in excellent order for the Easter racing. Some riding engagements made for Thursday are:—C. IVilson. Asset.
