Wairarapa Farmers’ Offer Of Co-operation
LOADING OF PRODUCE

.MASTERTON, March 21
The Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, today forwarded the following telegram to the president of the Wairarapa provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union in reply to the executive’s offer of co-operation with the Government in connexion with the Wellington waterside dispute:— “I thank you for your telegram and very much appreciate the offer of services conveyed on behalf of the Wairarapa branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union in restoring full overseas loading operations. Negotiations are at present proceeding between Government and interests concerned, and it is hoped that a satisfactory settlement of the difficulty will result. “(Signed) M. J. SAVAGE.” NEW AWARD Application For Hearing Now Before Court When the resolution of the men that union officials open negotiations with the employers immediately for a new argument was referred to him, Mr. Bennett said that the application for the hearing of the dispute for a new award was now before the Court of Arbitration and could not be withdrawn without the consent of both parties. The employers were of the opinion that the court was the legal aud proper body for the interpretation and making of awards.
KILLING FOR EXPORT CURTAILED

Because an insufficient number of ships are available in New Zealand to carry cargoes away, the killing of meat for export at many North Island works has 'been greatly curtailed. Tiie storage space at most of these works has practically been filled up, mid till the congestion is relieved by loading out of stocks the companies are forced to ration killing services among the farmers and stock buyers. The Westfield Freezing Company has been obliged to pay off tile men engaged on one of the mutton killing rings, involving, together with employees in other departments whose activities are curtailed, between .100 and 130 workers. 1 POSITION IN WELLINGTON The Gear Meat Company and tiie Wellington Meat Export Company reported yesterday that the operation of their works had not been affected. The loading out of carcases was resumed last night.
