■ “Diggers’ Night” Members of the Lower Hutt, branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association held a “Diggers’ ’’ (light on Saturday, when <’xsoldiers’ wives and families wore entertained. Items were given by Misses Yvonne Smith and Joan .Alters and Messrs. V. Jones, M. Nicholson and Keene. Mrs. YY. Burgess was- accompanist. Mr. F. Smith was master of ceremonies and played for dancing. The committee was Mr. E. M ilton (chairman) and Mrs. Wilton. Mr. F. Smith (secretary) and Mrs. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. L. Hook. Mr. anti Mrs. P. MeNichol. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Whiteman, Mr. and Mrs. W. Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. J. O’Meara, Mr. and Mrs. G. Shand, Mrs. F. Stedman and Mrs. W. Evans. Messrs. W. Toad and C. Akars. R.S.A. Card Afternoon. The hostesses at the card afternoon held at the Returned Soldiers' Association Rooms, Lower Hutt, by the women’s auxiliary were Mesdanies O’Meara, M . Hamilton and R. 'Woolley. The prizewinners were Mrs. 11. E. Edwards. 1 : Mrs. W. E. Garrett, 2. Bride-to-be Honoured. . Miss Enid Whitcher, I’etone, who in to be married shortly to Mr. A. E. Maxwell. was preseuti'd on Thnrsda.i night by Mrs. E. E. Snge, on behalf of the members of the Potone senior "iris’ Bible class, of which she is a member, with a gift of crystal. Mr. F. Bryant, choirmaster, presented Miss Whitcher with a jug and goblets from her fellow choir members.
