COMPULSORY SERVICE URGED
Big Future Political Issue In Britain (Indepeadeut Cable Service.) (Received March 21, 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 20. A large section of the Press is advocating compulsory national service, which the “Daily Express” declares will be the big political issue of the immediate future. Many important supporters of the Government are pressing for the formation of a compulsory register. Meanwhile, Mr. Chamberlain’s speech denouncing Nazi tactics and declaring that he would not sacrifice liberty for the sake of peace has stimulated national service recruiting, particularly in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Leeds.
