AMERICAN YACHT

Navigator Calls At Wellington MODERN FEATURES One of the smartest yachts to visit Wellington for some time, the 4S-ton American auxiliary schooner Navigator, arrived on Saturday from Dunedin. After replenishing her water supply, she sailed again yesterday morning for Russell, where her owner intends to fish for a few days. On board her are the owner, Mr. G. Harton Singer (Pittsburg), Mr. B. Dancy (Balitinore), Mr. J. C. Moulton, Mr. J. C. Walker, Mr. A. Anderson and Mr. T. Balding (Honolulu), and a crew of six. The skipper is Mr. F. K. Klebingat and the mate Mr. E. Adermau, both of whom visited New Zealand iu Mr. Zaue Grey’s yacht Fisherman.

From the main hatchway of the Navigator entrance is gained to the saloon, in a corner of which is fitted a 30-watt radio transmitting aud receiving apparatus. Two guest rooms and tjie owner’s cabin adjoin the saloon, all being within a few feet of the bathroom and shower. Forward of this is the galley, in which a large gas stove, running hot and cold water, and electric refrigeration are but three of many modern features. A 50 horse-power Diesel engine gives the schooner a speed of eight or nine knots.

The yacht arrived at Auckland on February 10 from San Pedro, California. On her way south from Auckland she visited the Marlborough Sounds, Lyttelton and Dunedin. A few days were spent in Preservation Inlet and Dusky Sound, where bad weather delayed the yacht. Mr. Singer spends about, seven or eight months of the year cruising in the Navigator, aud said that he hoped to return to New Zealand again. He will sail about April 5 for Honolulu.
