Plentiful Northern Harvest . BEST FOR DECADES Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, March 18. Some destined for the table and others for the winepress, grapes by the ton are being harvested in the vineyards of To Kauwhata district. Though larger crops have been gathered in, some previous years, the yield this season is regarded as satisfactory and the quality of the fruit was described by one grower as being the best for decades. Less wine is now manufactured by private growers than in the past, but every season hundreds of gallons are prepared in the Government vineyards, contaiinng more than 300 different varieties.

The 25 acres administered by the department at present is a sweeping vista of green vines, laden with fruit, and tt large staff will be employed when picking, begins.
