Youth’s Skull Fractured

DEATH OCCURS LATER IN HOSPITAL

By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 19. Fatal injuries were received by a 15-year-old youth, Alfred Capper, Green Lane, when be jumped from a moving train about 400 yards north of the Otahuhu railway station. The boy who was employed at the Westfield Freezing Works, was thrown heavily to the gravel at the side of the track and received a fractured skull. He died in tlie Auckland Hospital. The lad boarded a special race train for Paeroa at Green Lane on his way to work, but the train did not stop at Westfield. He attempted to alight from the train shortly after it had passed his stop, but fell heavily. The crew of the train knew nothing of the mishap. After his fall, the boy was seen to get up and begin to walk away. A few minutes later, however, he collapsed. He was found by a porter, who stopped the next engine to pass the spot. Au ambulance was called from Auckland and the lad was taken to hospital. He was suffering from a fractured skull, shock aud abrasions.
