Swept off the rocks at. the mouth of the Oakurtt River while gathering mussels for bait, .Mr. Henry Sears, married, about 37, was drowned this afternoon Striking a rock when lie fell, Mr. Sears was apparently knocked unconscious and was not noticed for several minutes. Rescuscitation efforts by several life-saver s arnd Dr. F. W. W. Dawson, Taranaki medical officer of health, proved unavailing after an hour and a half.
