WEATHER SITUATION
Pressure Still High Over Dominion Following is 'the weather report and the forecast tor winds and seas issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for' the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today:— General situation: Pressure is still high over the Dominion, but is falling over south-eastern Australia. Forecast. —Winds: Light to moderate and variable, with northerlies to north-westerlies gradually prevailing and later freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters: Slight to moderate, but rising somewhat in the far south and" later in Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-east to northerly winds prevailing in the northern portion and north-westerlies in the southern; force light to moderate, but gradually freshening. Seas slight, but rising. (General forecast appears above leading article.)
YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington: Fair to fine and mild with a light northerly breeze. Minimum temperature Thursday night 54.8 deg.; maximum yesterday, 63.8 deg. Temperature at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, 63.8 deg., and barometer reading 30.174 in.
Palmerston North: Overcast in the early morning but sunny for the remainder of the day with a warm, light north-east breeze.
Masterton: Bright, warm sunshine; muggy heat indoors. Faint westerly breeze.
Wanganui: Cloudy with a light westerly breeze. New Plymouth: Warm, sunny and calm: barometer at 5 p.m., 30.101 n. Waipukurau: Beautiful sunny day, with a maximum temperature of 77 deg., and the glass reading 30.26 in. . Napier and Hastings: Lightly overcast early, but clearing toward inidniorning and becoming fine and warm with a light easterly breeze. Auckland: Fine and sunny with a moderate south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 72deg. Barometric pressure fell slightly and the reading at 5 p.m. was 30.25 in. Clu'istchurch: Fine and very warm, with no wind iu the morning, and a light easterly in the evening. The maximum temperature was 76.2 deg., and the barometer at 5 p.m. read 30.20 In. Dunedin: Overcast in the morning and humidity was exceptional. A light rain shower fell but the sun broke through later and the temperature rose to 76deg. The barometer fell sharply before midday, but was risng later at 30.25 in.
