REMITTANCES FOR ABROAD
Further Reduction In Amount LIMIT OF £5 A WEEK Use Of Post Office Instead Of Trading Banks A reduction from £lO to £5 has been made in the amount of the weekly remittances which can be sent abroad by money-order from New Zealand. This further reduction came into effect yesterday morning. The limitation of £lO was enforced when the regulations dealing with import and export control came into force on December 7. Before that date there was no limit on overseas remittances.
The Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, said yesterday that this action had been taken because of the possibility of persons desiring to remit funds overseas using the facilities of the Post Office instead of the trading banks. The amount allowed for remittance of £5 a week should be more than sufficient to cover the sums required outside ordinary commercial transactions.
