CO-OPERATION IN PACIFIC
American Visitor On Its
Value
Dominion Special Service.
AUCKLAND, March 17.
“With a co-operative effort we can accomplish great things in the Pacific area,” said Mr. U. P. Bayer, field secretary of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, when speaking at a luncheon tendered members of the visiting goodwill delegation by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. He referred to the need for friendly relations as an approach to satisfactory trade and business relations. “The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce is interested in creating friendships,” Mr. Bayer said, “and what could be more appropriate than the making of friends in two of the great Englishspeaking countries that lie in the Pacific. Our keenness in this regard is indicated by the fact that within a week of our announcing the tour to Australia and New Zealand, every available reservation for the trip was sold. I ain not making any promises, but it certainly demonstrates that Americans are interested in places on this side of the Pacific, and I believe there will be many more goodwill trips organized to the Dominions.” Tribute to the quality of tourist literature issued by the New Zealand authorities in Los Angeles was paid by Mr. A. T. Case, another member of the American party. The visitors, be said, were anxiously seeking an opportunity of seeing for themselves the attractions of the Dominion and also of creating friendships witli business aud trading interests.
