“SOMEONE AT THE DOOR” BEGINS TONIGHT
Comedy-thrillers have an irresistible appeal to theatre-goers, a’ud the Thespians have chosen wisely in selecting the most successful of this type of play iu recent years—" Someone at the Door” —for the first production of the 1939 season. "Someone at the Door” will begin a season in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, Wellington, tonight. It should not be missed by anyone iu search of thrilling eniertainmeut. The Thespians have obtained an outstanding cast for this- production, including several of Wellington’s bestknown and more popular actors in excellent roles. Victor S. Lloyd, the society’s director, who is producing the play, is contiddnt that it will be remembered with other great Thespian successes such as “Love from a Stranger,” "Aren’t Men Beasts I” and "Lovers’ Leap.” ‘■Someone at the Door," which is by Dorothy and Campbell Christie, had a sensationally long run in London, and has since repeated that success in New York and other parts of the world. Tonight’s presentation will be its first in New Zealand, and no doubt it will be equally popular in this country. Those taking part iu the production include Selwyn Toogood, Joan Goodwin. H. A. Painter, Myles F. E. Wright, 11. J. Larkin, John McCreary, and Arthur Rayner; the stage manager is Evan Harrowell, the properties are in the care of Susie Painter, and the prompter is Jack McLeod.
