MINERAL WEALTH IN SOUTH AFRICA
Up to 1863 not one mining company was registered in South Africa. Fol years after that geography books stated Hull the country was destitute of minerals. Today South Africa is the foremost diamond and gold-producing country in the world, and a land in which almost every known mineral of economic importance has been found.
