TEN BEST-DRESSED WOMEN

The Duchess of Windsor is deposed as queen of fashion. The Woolworth heiress, Countess Barbara HaugwitzReventlow, is no longer one of the world’s best-dressed women, who, this year, spent over £200,000 on clothes and jewels among them. This is the result of the Paris fashion creators’ December vote.

They Chose Mme, Antenor Patino, former Bourbon princess, to be new fashion leader.

.Mine. Patino’s husband is the heir to one of the five largest fortunes in the world, drawn from huge tin deposits in Bolivia.

Her father-in-law, Don Simon Patino. Bolivian Minister to France, was a clerk at La I’az barely 30 years ago. He took a mountain in payment of a debl, and found the mountain full of tin.

While, the Duchess of Windsor bought chiefly black and blue this season, Mme. Patino favoured strong colours, particularly a strong violet blue. The latest 'ranking by vote of the fashion creators is:—

(1) .Mme. Antenor Patino; (2) the Duchess of Windsor; (!’) the Duchess of Kent; (4) Baronne Eugene de Rothschild; (5) the Begum Aga Khan; (6) Mrs. Harrison Williams; (7) the Marquise de Paris; (8) Mrs. Gilbert Miller; (9) Senora Martinez de Hoz; (.10) Mme. Jean Dupuy, an American. Runners-up Include the Countess Barbara Ifa ugwi tz-Reven 11 ow.
