SUCCESSFUL HARRIER SEASON
Presbyterian Club’s Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Presbyterian Harrier Club was held recently, and the report disclosed a very successful season during 1938. The total membership was more than 70 and the average attendance was good. D. Wilson and A. Edwards completed their sixth and seventh successive seasons respectively without missing a run, and 18 harriers attended every run during 1938. In interclub racing the club attained success for the first time in its history, winning the B grade Shaw Baton relay and gaining second place in the Vosseler Shield race. The St. Andrew’s Trophy was also won from the Auckland and Christchurch Presbyterian clubs. The financial position of the club was said to be quite satisfactory. Mr. W. J. Ferguson presided at the meeting, and reference was made to the death of N. Stewart, a very popular member of the club. It was with much regret that the committee accepted the resignation of the captain, A. Congalton, and treasurer, A. Edwards. The election of officers for 1939 resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. A. Martin; president, Mr. W. J. Ferguson ; club captain, Mr. C. Seelye; deputy captain, Mr. J. H. Miller; secretary, Mr. J. Armstrong (re-elected) ; treasurer, Mr. M. Pumfrey; publicity officer, Mr. N. Jardine (re-elect-ed) ; auditor, Mr. T. Barrett; executive committee, Messrs. C. Seelye. J. H. Miller, J. A. Armstrong. M. Pumfrey, N. Jardine, S. Dick and B. Norton.
