Business Very Quiet At Feiding Sale

Dominion Special Service. FEILDING. March 17. Business was very quiet at the Feilding saleyards today, when small yardings came forward. Store sheep were not inthe same demand as last week, though little change was noticeable in the prices for two-tooths. Aged breeding ewes slipped back, but in many cases the quality was not what was required. Fat sheep were very scarce, and with a complete lack of life in the demand, a heavy entry would have made matters worse. Probably, because it is not a payable proposition to bring in fat ewes, hardly any of these sheep were yarded. Lambs and wethers sold at late rates. Because of tlie closing of the works against boner cattle, there was little doing in this respect. Of station stock yards were empty. Beef values were again depressed, this, also, being a reaction from the congestion in the works. Quotations are: — Sheep: Prime wethers, 19/2 to 20/1; second quality, 18/- to 18/6; first grade lambs. 23/6 to 23/8; seconds, 20/to 21/6plight, 17/6 to 18/-; prime ewes, 9/10; good two-tpoth ewes, 27/6 to 28/4: second quality, 24/9 to 26/-; small, 2274 to 25/6; others. 17/9 to 18/6; fourtooth, ewes. 19/- to 21/1 ; good four and five-year ewes, 17/1 to 18/4; backward, 7/7 to 8/9; best five and six-year ewes, 11/- to 13/-; others, to 9/11; medium four-year ewes, 17/1 to 17/3; good sixyear ewes, 14/-; medium two-tooth wethers. 14/-.
