Sir Julien Cahn’s Comment. pavilions criticized Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND. March 17. ‘•The organization and billeting arrangements in various centres finve been first class, aud the tour has gone_ through without, a single hitch,” said Sir Julien Cahn, who has sponsored the visit, of the English cricket side which is playing the final match of its itinerary against Auckland this weekend. ‘•The pitches and grounds, even in the country districts, have proved faultless,” continued Sir Julien, “hut you . won t mind if I paos some friendly criticism regarding your pavilions, which are care ■able of a great deal of improvement.”
Sir Julien favoured dressing-room accommodation that overlooked the field of play and which enabled players who were preparing to bat to keep in touch with the game. However,- he realized that New Zealand wan a young country as regards cricket and did not have wealthy patrons who were prepared to make substantial monetary gifts in the . interests of the game, as wan the case in England. “It is very rash for a man to make any far-flung promises.” naid Sir Julien when asked whether there was a possibility of hie bringing another teiim to tile Dominion. “We have been living on the edge of a precipice for some time,”, he said, “and if war comes of course cricket goes to the wall.”
