Mrs. F. A. Knight invited many friends to her home, Hokonui, Homewood Avenue, Wellington, to wish Mrs. Bailey a pleasant, trip to England, and she presented the guest, of the afternoon with a rosebud shoulder spray. Melodies which she had composed herself were played by Mrs. O. M. Shakespeare, who sang “The Huia Song.” Miss Holland, Dunedin, gave some travel experiences of a trip to Northern Queensland, and accompanying herself on a zither, gave some delightful songs, recitations, and sketches. At afternoon tea, Mrs. Bailey cut a decorated cake with the words “Bon Voyage” written in icing. Novel table napkins depicting “a ship a-sailiug” added to the enjoyment. Hydrangeas, honeysuckle, and michaelmas daisies decorated the rooms.

Linen Gift Tea. A “linen tea” was given by Miss Joyce Skipage recently at her parents’ home, Wyndrum Avenue, Lower Hutt, in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss W. Wood to Mr. C. Swift. Games and novelty competitions were enjoyed, after which ice-cream and a savoury afternoon tea was served. Miss Wood, assisted by Mrs. Shaw, opened the many gifts brought for her by the guests.
