Johnsonville

A large yarding of all classes of cattle was offered by Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., aud Abraham nud Williams, Ltd., at the Johnsonville stock sale yesterday. The bullocks penned comprised ebieflv heavyweight eajjle with a few pens of light and unfinished sorts. A good sale resulted for all classes of prime quality cattle with plain sorts bard to sell. Only a few pens of prime heavy cows came forward, the balance of the yarding comprising tight and unfinished cows. Prime quality cows were sold with no alteration on last week, though plain cows were easier to the extent of 5/- a head. There was a larger yarding of runners and vealers than usual, and. with competition keen throughout. prices showed no alteration. The wethers penned were ot good quality with prices firm on last week. There was a good sale for ewes, with no alteration in prices. No prime quality lambs came forward, the yarding comprising chieflly second class lambs. On the quality, prices were fully 1/6 to 2/- a head above export prices. Quotations are:— Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks. £l4/5/- to £l3/6/-; prime heavy bullocks, £l3/2/- to £l2 10/--. heavy bullocks. £l2/5/- to £ll/18/-; light and unfinished bullocks, £lO/2/- to £9; extra prime heavy cows and heifers. £8 to £7/5/-: prime heavy cows and heifers. £7/2/6 to £6/10/-: cows and heifers, £6 to £5/5/-: runners and vealers, £4/1/- to £l/18/-. Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, 21/1 to 18/3; prime heavy wethers. 18/to 17/3: medium wethers. 16/10 to 1.5/6; prime extra heavy ewes. 13/- to 10/6; prime heavy ewes. 10/3 to 9/3; medium ewes. 8/6 to 5/4; heavy lambs, 20/- to 17/6: medium lambs. 16/10 to 14/-: light lambs, 13/6 to 11/-.
