Produces 905.921 b. Fat In Third Year OAKVIEW KEYES TROJAN That she is entitled to be ranked as one of the outstanding heifers of any dairy breed ever developed in any part oi the world has again been demonstrated by the New Zealand pedigree Friesian heifer Oakview Keyes Trojan, who on February 7. 1939, completed her second lactation period under C.O.R. test with the remarkable record for a three-year-old heifer of 23,753.31 b. milk. 3.51 per cent, average test, and 905.921 b. fat in 365 days. As she produced 22.146.51 b. milk, 3.77 per cent, test, and 836.951 b. fat in 365 days as a two-year-old heifer during the 1937-38 season, —being easily a record for any junior two-year-old Friesian heifer vet C.0.1t. tested in New Zealand—Oakview "Keyes Trojan has an aggregate of 1742.901 b. fat for her only two° milking lactations, a figure that has been only once excelled by a heifer in the Dominion. Had Oakview Keyes Trojan calved nine days earlier at the start of her second lactation period she would have been eligible for the junior three-year-old class, and had this been so her recentlycompleted i-ecord would have established a new record for that class by more than 20001 b. milk and 1051 b. fat. However, though she enters the senior three-year-old division by sueh a narrow her return of 23,753.31 b. milk and 900.9lb. fat has only been once excelled by a Friesian heifer in the same class, the senior three-vear-old record-holder for all breeds, Totara C.R. Buttercup. 989.1(1 lb. fat. Oakview Keyes Trojan freshened tor her first lactation period at the age of two years 131 days, and for her second period at three years 191 days. Oakview Keyes Trojan was bred by the Oakview Stud Farrps but was purchased by Mr. A. W. Montgomerie, Mangere, for 2()gn.-s. before ehe was 12months of age. and it has been under the latter's care that she has; been developed and milked while on test. She was hand milked throughout her two-year-old record-break-ing performance, but was milked by machines throughout her three-year-old lactation. A fortnight after starting the latter she was exhibited at the Auckland show, where <--he won the three-year-old heifer clas'S. Her sire is - Oakview Sylvie Model Lad 31. winner of the 1934 North Island championship, and a son of Rosevale Inka Sylvia Model and of Mercena Lass of Oakview. C.O.R. 6651 b. fat. a son and grand-daughter respectively of the proven imported Burkeyje Sylvia Posch and Queen Mercena Bonhour. The dam of Keyes Trojan is Oakview Dutchlund Queen Sylvia 30,- who last s-eason produced 5431 b. in 305 days under G.0.H.T.. an-d who is a half-sister Io Moneville Sylvia Posch Mercena. 1000 lb. fat. both being by the same sire. Hiwiroa Avon King Sylvia, a bull carrying three etrains of Burkeyje Sylvia Posch The maternal grand-dam of Trojan is Oakview Jessie Sylvia Trojan 2nd I Bell Farm Echo Sylvia Trojan—Dutchland Jessie of Oakview), whose dam is by Dominion Dutchland, famous sou of Qomin ion Jessie Fobes Beets (imp.). Oakview Keyes Trojan hag come through her two strenuous testing seasons in excellent fettle, and though she gives the impression that she may be carrying twin calves it is Mr. Montgomerie’s intention to test her again next season.
