Gold Mining Returns The Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold' Dredging Co. Ltd. report a washup of Coz. sdwt. for 1134 hours’ dredging. By Telegraph Press AssocuiHow TIMAR-U, March 15. The Goldfields Dredging Company reports a return of soz. Cdwt. for 130 hours. Alexander Mines Report Alexander Mines Limited report for the week ended March 10: — 5 intermediate north : Was advanced 15ft., making a total of 170 ft. north of winze. The reef has averaged ISin. in the back of drive with a series of quartz leaders underfoot. Stoping: Stoping operations have been carried out on the second and third stope above the intermediate (north end). A shortage of labour has held up further operations on No. 0 level. During the week 40 tons were transported to the battery. Una Hill Gold Mines, Ltd. Una Hill Consolidated Gold Mines, Ltd., report that during the period from January 4 to March 10, No. 4 Adit level cleaned up and drained; rails, water, and air pipe lines laid and chamber cut out for head room at top of inclined drive, which is being put down to intercept a junction of gold-bearing reefs at the 200 ft. level. The inclined drive has been advanced a total of 49ft., leaving 223 ft. to reach the objective. At about 45ft. down a leader was encountered, width 2in. to 6in., showing very strong colours of gold. Hemp And Tow Gradings There were 986 bales of hemp graded at the ports of the Dominion in February, compared with 3112 bales in February, 1938,'a decrease of 2120 bales.
