AUSTRALIAN FEELING ON INSURANCE
Belief That Universal « Scheme Is Not Wanted Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, March 14. Tlie opinion that tlie general Australian public did not want a universal insurance scheme similar to that about to come into force in New Zealand was expressed by Dr. Frank Macky, Auckland, who returned from a brief visit to Australia by the Awatea. All that was wanted was a scheme which would provide for those really in need of such insurance. At present the Australian scheme was held up purely on the grounds of finance and not because of its medical provisions, Dr. Macky added. It was much smaller in scope than the New Zealand one, and it was likely that it would lie even more limited when it was finally put into effect. It would be divorced from pensions provisions, which would be handled separately.
