Best-dressed Band In Contest Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N„ March 14. “The Manawatu Pipe Band was the best dressed band in the Christchurch content, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce will be interested to learn that the whole of the materials for the uniforms, including the tartan, were made in New Zealand,” said the chieftain of the Manawatu Scots Society. Mr. J. S. Jenkinson, replying to a civic welcome to the band today. Not only were the materials made in New Zealand, but the uniforms were made by a. Palmerston North firm, who had made a splendid job of it. He had received a letter from the judge of dress congratulating band members and the firm responsible for making the uniforms.
