Visitor To Wellington A visitor to Wellington by the Strathallan this week was Mr. Lawrence C. Tipper, Birmingham, who has been actively engaged in Empire work since the ’seventies, when he began liis advocacy in the Birmingham district of tariff reform. On arrival he was the guest of the executive of the Birmingham and Midland Counties' Association, and paid various calls on friends made on former visits, and also the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash (a fellow townsman), with whom be,recalled many events of the old days in Birmingham, and more recently their meeting at the Royal Empire Society’s dinner in London during Mr. Nash’s visit in .1937. A reception by members of the association at Kirkcaldie and Stains’ tearoom was heid. many interesting reminiscences of various personalities and places in the old districts being mentioned by Mr. Tipper, who conveyed greetings and good wishes given on' behalf of the City of Birmingham.
