Seventy-Fifth Annual Meeting There was an attendance of 200 at the seventy-fifth annual meeting anil social gathering of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce held last mgnt at the National Art Gallery tearooms. The president, Mr. E. E, Pattrick, presidtscl The toast of the guests was proposed by Sir Charles Norwood. “Some years ago,” lie said, ‘ this chamber’s annual banquet, though not political itself, assumed political importance insofar as the public always looked forward to this function for the Government’s policy speech. A\ e base not been so honoured for some yeais past. . . “We are pleased to welcome the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sullivan, personally, and because his presence represents the recognition that this chamber is obviously a link — and I hope a useful one —between the politics of our country and the everyday business man.” . Replies were made by Mr. Sullivan, the deputy-mayor of Wellington; Mr. M. M. F. Luckie; the- acting-chairman of" the Wellington Harbour Board, Mr. D. J. McGowan; the Canadian Trade Commissioner, Mr. IV. F. Bull; the Dean of the Consular Corps, Mr. L. C. Pinkerton; the Consul for Belgium, M. Armand Nihotte. t The president announced that the election to fill the seven vacancies on the council of the chamber had resulted : Messrs. AV. I. J. Blyth, AV. 11. Kindle, M. M. F. Luckie, C. AV. Mack, M. G. C. McCanl, A. L. Wall, F. Wilson. Messrs. Ernest Hunt, Turner and Heslop were elected as auditors.
