Textile Factories Busy Latest mail advices state that iu the United States in January the output of women’s fabrics at the mills was double the 1938 quantity at the similar period. At the time millmen were estimated to have sufficient orders on hand to keep their establishments fully occupied for 10 to 12 weeks. Worsted materials for women’s wear are considered likely to be popular and it is probable that producers of men’s fabrics will be called upon'to supply some of the materials required for women’s wear. From July 1 to the end of November the quantity of apparel wool consumed at the Aiqpriean mills was 3'5 per cent, greater than during the corresponding months of 1938. American purchasing has also been very active in Argentina. During the three months ended December 24,061,0001 b. of wool was shipped from that country to the States, the total for the similar period a year previously being J.300,0001b. American buying has been most prominent in Australia and Argentina. Purchases in Uruguay and South Africa, have been limited.
