Palmerston North Sale

A large catalogue was offered at the monthly sale of wool, skins and hides held at Palmerston North on March 9 by Abraham and Williams, Ltd. Values for wool were up from id. to 3d. a lb. There was a rise in the values of sheepskins from id. to 4d. a lb. Cow hides were up id. to id. a' lb., and calfskins were on a par. The tallow market was still quiet. The following is the range of values: — Wool: Lambs, Bd. to Bjd.; fine crossbred, 8-}d. to 9d.; fine hoggets, B}d. to 9d.; crossbred, B<L to Bid.; dead, 7d. to Bd.; bellies, sd. to 6d.; crutchings, 6d. to 7id.; pieces, sd. to 6d.; locks and pieces, 3d. to 4id. Sheepskins: Lambs, 7d. to Tid.; fine, first, 7d. to Bd.; fine hoggets, 7d. to 7Jd.j hoggets, Gid. to 7d.; threequarter-full-wools, Gid. to 7-Jd.; quarter-half-wools, 6d. to 7d.; crossbred, damaged, 6d. to 7d.; dead, sid. to Gid.; pelts, 3Jd. to 4Jd. Hides: Ox, heavy, 6id. to 6 3-Bd.; ox, medium, 6d. to Gid.; ox, light, sid. to 6d.; cow, heavy, 5 5-Bd. to 5 7-Bd.; cow, medium, 5 S-Bd. to 5 7-Bd.; cow, light, 5 5-Bd. to 5 7-Sd.; yearlings, 7d. to Bd.; calf, light, first, lOd. to 10 3-Bd.; calf, light, second, 94d. to lOd.; calf, cut, Bd. to 9d.
