TEST OF EXHIBITION BAND-SHELLS

Next Sunday Afternoon

WORKMEN TAKE SHARES IN VENTURE

Postponed from last Saturday owing to rain, the official test of the bandshells at the centennial exhibition will be held next Sunday afternoon. The acoustics will be tried out by the Port Nicholson Silver Band, and the mayor, Mr. Hislop, will give au address. An official test of the extensive fire equipment will be made tomorrow morning, in the presence of directors of the exhibition, fire board officials, and insurance company directors. The enthusiasm with which workmen occupied on the construction of the buildings view the exhibition is illustrated by the action of a vast majority in taking shares in the exhibition company.

“Over three hundred employees of Messrs. Fletcher and Love and other contractors working on the exhibition have united in a very pleasing gesture,’’ said the secretary of the company. Mr.- H. E. Avery, yesterday. "They have each arranged to subscribe for a small parcel of shares in the exhibition company. This is an action very much appreciated bj’ my directors.”
