HARRIER SEASON

Diminishing Attendances At Runs WELLINGTON CLUB REPORT The annual report of the Wellington Harrier Club slates that the number on the roll is 40. .Seventeen club runs were held last season, at which the average attendance was 10.58. The committee is greatly concerned with the attendances during the later part of the season. Till June 25, a week after the Dome Cup race, eight club runs were held .with an average attendance, of 23; for the last nine runs of the season the attendance fell to 15.55. It is felt that the incoming committee should take some precautions to brake this falling away in the second half of the season. During the season the following members attended every club run, and so qualified for the club’s attendance medal: H, Brady, E. Chown, J. Drawbridge, A. McCallum, IV. Owens, A. Robinson, 11. Newson, E. Willetts, R. Spence. Attendance medals were also gained by the following supporters of the club: Miss Orr. Mrs. Brady, Mrs. Garrett, Mrs. Spence, Mrs. Weston. “For the season about io start prospects are indeed bright.” concludes the report. “Some outstanding runners have signified their intention of running for the club, and it is anticipated that before the opening date many more will have joined up. With the Government emphasizing the need of physical fitness it is to be hoped that, the harrier movement in general and this club in particular will play a big part in bringing physical welfare up to a higher standard, specially in this year which marks the beginning of New Zealand's centennial celebrations.”
